I can't help it.  I'm a sucker for newer cards featuring North Stars uniforms.  And I guess by "newer," I mean 10 years old.

1985-86 7-Eleven #1 Dino Ciccarelli

I knew I had these somewhere!  While visiting my parents for Sunday dinner tonight, I found my 1985-86 and 1984-85 7-11 Fire Prevention North Stars team sets.  The 1985-86 set, which is a standard-sized set, is in much better shape.  There are a couple cards in it that have some light creases, but for the most part it's in pretty good shape.  Unfortunately, the oversized 1984-85 set it in pretty rough condition.  A lot of the cards in that one even have pin holes through the top from when seven-year-old me had them hanging on my bulletin board.  I'll have to replace most, if not all the cards in that one.

I was kind of amazed to only find two post-North Stars Dino cards in my old collection.  I suspect there may be a couple more hiding somewhere, but regardless he's definitely a player who warrants the addition of a lot of non-North Stars cards to this collection.

The trade of Dino Ciccarelli to the Washington Capitals for two eventual Hall of Famers wouldn't look so bad if the North Stars would have actually held on to Mike Gartner and Larry Murphy for more than a year and a half.

Following the postings of my personal favorite set (the 1979-80 set), I figured I should post this Dino Ciccarelli card from last year.  I found this while cruising eBay last month for North Stars cards.  I guess the 2008-09 O-Pee-Chee set had a parallel "Retro" set, which copped the design of the 1979-80 issue.  Sadly, it appears Dino was the only North Star in the set (though I did also pick up a Mikko Koivu card from the same seller).

I guess I might as well start with the rookie card of one of my favorites.  I recently acquired this in a ridiculously underpriced 1981-82 Topps North Stars team set on eBay.  I'll get the rest of the set up eventually, but Dino's a pretty good start!
